Everything You Need to Know About ScalpLab.
Clear answers about AI-assisted analysis, professional use, client consultations, accounts, privacy and subscriptions.
ScalpLab is a professional platform designed to help therapists and salon teams deliver more visual, structured and consistent scalp consultations. It brings client records, scalp images, AI-assisted cosmetic analysis, recommendations, reports and progress tracking together in one place.
The professional captures suitable scalp images during the consultation. ScalpLab then uses image analysis to help organise visible cosmetic observations and support a clearer client discussion. The result should always be reviewed alongside the therapist's own professional judgement.
No. ScalpLab is a cosmetic consultation and professional support tool. It does not diagnose diseases, identify underlying medical causes of hair loss or replace a clinical examination. Any medical concern should be referred to an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
- Use clear, focused images with consistent lighting.
- Photograph the same scalp areas at each appointment.
- Avoid heavy product build-up immediately before imaging.
- Keep the device angle and distance as consistent as possible.
Yes. Repeat images and consultation records can be stored against the client's profile, helping the professional compare visible changes and communicate the client's journey more clearly across future visits.
No. ScalpLab is designed to strengthen professional expertise, not replace it. The therapist remains responsible for reviewing the information, discussing the client's goals, applying their training and deciding what recommendations are appropriate.
ScalpLab is designed for trained professionals delivering cosmetic scalp, hair, salon, spa, head-spa or related consultation services. It can support sole therapists, mobile professionals, salons, spa centres, health centres and multi-location teams.
ScalpLab can support treatment, product and homecare conversations based on visible cosmetic observations and the information collected during the consultation. Recommendations should remain within the professional's training, insurance, scope of practice and local requirements.
Do not attempt to diagnose the concern through ScalpLab. Follow your usual professional referral procedure and advise the client to seek assessment from a doctor, dermatologist, trichologist or another suitably qualified healthcare professional.
Single User is for one individual and cannot add branches, managers or therapists. Multiple Users is for salons and teams, with no maximum number of branches, managers or therapists.
On a Multiple Users account, the main salon profile is treated as the default branch. Any managers or therapists added can be assigned to that default branch until additional locations are created.

Professionals should obtain appropriate client consent before capturing, storing or using consultation images and personal information. You should also explain why the images are being taken, how they will be used and how long they will be retained.
The salon or professional using ScalpLab remains responsible for collecting and using client information lawfully, managing permissions appropriately and following applicable privacy, record-keeping and consent requirements.
Yes. Participation should be explained clearly and should not be forced. When a client declines image capture or AI-assisted analysis, the professional can continue with their usual consultation process where appropriate.
